Today’s weather forecast for Thailand: Hot temperatures and health precautions

The Thai Meteorological Department forecasted that temperatures in Thailand will generally be hot today (Sunday), accompanied by partly cloudy skies during the day. Certain areas in the northern part of the country are expected to experience scorching heat. Citizens were requested to take care of their health and watch for heatstroke caused by the intense weather conditions.

This situation has unfolded due to low atmospheric pressure caused by the heat enveloping the upper parts of Thailand. At the same time, westerly and southwesterly winds continue to blow across the country, leading to isolated rain showers and strong gusts of winds at certain places. Locals were reminded to be cautious of the dangers posed by thunderstorms and powerful gusts.

The westerly and southwesterly winds also affect the Andaman Sea, southern Thailand, and the Gulf of Thailand, causing the south to experience continuous rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms. Waves in the Andaman Sea are estimated to be around one metre high, while areas with thunderstorms may have swells of more than one metre. Boaters were advised to be cautious and avoid sailing in storm-affected areas.

Meanwhile, a high-pressure system accompanied by a mass of cool air from China is expanding to cover southern China, and is expected to spread over northern Thailand and the South China Sea during the period of April 8 to 10. The southwesterly and southeasterly winds will bring humidity from the Gulf of Thailand and the South China Sea, forming the upper part of Thailand’s summer storm. This will result in thunderstorms, heavy winds, and hail in some areas, potentially causing lightning strikes. The northeastern region is expected to be affected first, followed by other regions at a later stage.

Regarding air pollution levels, most parts of Thailand are currently experiencing low levels of dust and smog accumulation, due to good air circulation. However, the northern and upper northeastern regions report higher levels of particles and smog due to smaller amounts of rain and poor air circulation.
