Following the recent cluster of Covid-19 infections in Bangkok’s Bang Khae district, city officials plan to vaccinate 6,000 people in the area who are at risk of infection.

Starting tomorrow, 500 to 600 people in the district will be vaccinated against the coronavirus each day, according to Bangkok Metropolitan Administration spokesperson Pongsakorn Kwanmuang. Inoculations will take place at hospitals and mobile units.

Bangkok officials expect to receive 240,000 more doses of the Chinese-made Sinovac vaccine this week. Nation Thailand says the doses will vaccinate 120,000 healthcare workers in areas in Bangkok considered the highest risk of infection.

In Bang Khae, 224 people have tested positive for Covid-19 in the past week. 6 markets in the area have been shut down for cleaning.
