Hats on for charity at Phuket’s Andara Resort
PHUKET: The Melbourne Cup, the horse race that stops a nation [Australia], was celebrated in style at Phuket’s Andara Resort & Villas, in Kamala, on November 1.
Anticipation was high before the race, and once the gates opened guests cheered for their favorites with Dunaden winning the Melbourne Cup in a thrilling photo finish, one of the closest finishes in the race’s history.
No Melbourne Cup event is complete without glamour and glitz and this year’s guests were dressed to impress for the Fashion on the Fields competition. There were fantastic prizes up for grabs from Paresa, Andara and Phuket Pavillions. The stylish winners were: best dressed female – Anna Cato; best dressed male – Leon Coburn; best hat – Ido Haddon; and best model Nathan Chilcott.
With Garry Holden as MC and Jay Leshark on the decks, the event was a great success and raised approximately 420,000 baht for the Soi Dog Foundation and the Barnhem Muang Mai Orphanage.
Both charities have chosen to give all proceeds to the Bangkok Flood Appeal.
The Phuket Gazette and PGTV are proud to sponsor this annual event.
