Three seriously injured in assault at £41,325-a-year Devon private school
A serious assault at Blundell’s School, a private institution in Tiverton, Devon, has left two students and another individual with significant injuries. Authorities responded to the incident at approximately 1am on Friday, June 9, after receiving reports of an attack on the school grounds. A 16-year-old boy from Tiverton has been apprehended on suspicion of three counts of causing grievous bodily harm with intent and is currently in police custody.
Superintendent Antony Hart, the local policing commander, stated, “This is a very traumatic incident for those involved and the wider school community, and we will continue to work closely with the school, providing support to those involved.” Hart also reassured the public that all involved parties are connected to the school, and there is no broader risk to the community. The police are not pursuing any other individuals in relation to the assault.
As the investigation is still in its early stages, authorities will continue with searches and inquiries around the school throughout the day. Blundell’s School charges £41,325 per year for senior boarders and over £28,000 for students in years seven and eight.
