Police hunt man for abusing toddler in Setapak apartment

A 31-year-old Malaysian man is being sought by the police for allegedly abusing a 23-month-old baby at an apartment in Setapak, Kuala Lumpur. The baby, who sustained injuries to her back, lips, and both eyes, is currently receiving treatment at Kuala Lumpur General Hospital.

Wangsa Maju district deputy police chief DSP D. Saralathan stated that the man, who is the boyfriend of the baby’s mother, fled the scene when the police arrived. The preliminary investigation revealed that the baby was assaulted for making too much noise, and the man continued to harm the child despite the mother’s pleas.

The case is being investigated under Section 31(1) of the Child Act. Authorities have urged anyone with information about the case to contact the Wangsa Maju district police headquarters at 03-92899222, call the Kuala Lumpur police hotline at 03-21159999, or visit the nearest police station.

A video of a man abusing a baby girl circulated on social media yesterday, drawing widespread attention and concern.
