UPDATE: Norwegian recuses two boys from surf while 11 year old remains missing

A Norwegian man has rescue two boys from strong surf at Nai Yang Beach. Three other boys managed to get back to the shore whilst other boy is still missing.

Sakoo Police were notified of the incident around midday that five Thai boys had survived being washed into strong surf, and either being saved or getting back to shore themselves, while the other Thai boy is still missing at Laem Po off Nai Yang Beach.

Police and rescue workers arrived where waves were up to two metres high. Five boys were sitting on the beach. Lifeguards had already started searching for the missing boy.

Sakoo Police says those six boys were from Baan Bang Mala, not far from the beach. They headed into the water but only up to their knees and not far from the shore. They had been knocked over by big waves and called for help.

A 37 year old Norwegian man, Terji Tennessean, was playing on a surf board nearby and rescued two of the boys while the other three managed to get themselves back to shore. Parents of the two boys saved by Mr Tonnessen were on the scene soon after to thank him for his efforts in bringing them back to shore.

The missing boy has been identified as 11 year old Sutat Jampatong who is stuying Pratom Suksa 5 at Wat Mongkol Wanaram School in Thalang.
