Seven Phuket police transferred off the island after man shot dead

Seven police officers have already been transferred out of Phuket while investigations continues after a man was shot dead by police following the man breaking through a checkpoint in Phuket Town last week.

The Phuket man, who broke a Phuket City Police checkpoint, died after ‘attempting’ to open fire on police in Cherng Talay early on September 18.

The transfer order was issued on Saturday (September 22) by the Phuket Provincial Police Commander Maj Gen Teeraphol Thipjaroen.

Three of the Cherng Talay Police and four of the Phuket City Police have already been transferred out of Phuket. The seven were moved off the island yesterday before noon.

Maj Gen Teeraphol says, “We are very sorry for the relatives of the man about this incident. The incident is being investigated.”

At the time police alleged that the dead man, Chisanupong, had committed five crimes in Phuket and Trang. He also has three arrest warrants, two of which had already expired and one that had been cancelled.
