Register your crocodile by August 10 – Phuket Governor

OK, all you closet-crocodile owners, it’s time to register your crocodile. And make it snappy!

Owners of crocodiles in Phuket must register them with the Phuket Provincial Fisheries Office before August 10, 2018, or they will face legal action.

Phuket’s Governor says “The province has issued an announcement notifying crocodile owners who have yet to register to the Phuket Provincial Fisheries Office before August 10. The announcement follows the sighting of a crocodile near beaches and is for the safety of the general public and tourists.”

“Any person who possesses protected wildlife acquired by breeding or a carcass of protected wildlife acquired by breeding without permission, under Section 19, shall be liable to imprisonment for a term not exceeding one year or a fine not exceeding 10,000 baht, or both.”

“If you have any suspicions of people who illegally possess a crocodile, they can be reported by calling the Phuket Provincial Fisheries Office 0-7621-2460, 089-8665991, 081-731 8923. Information which leads to the arrest will be rewarded.”

So it’s now time to rush to your next door neighbours to ask them if they are harbouring a fugitive crocodile.
