Pabuk: Ships ‘must’ remain at shore – Phuket Governor

Phuket’s Governor Phakkaphong Tavipatana has issued an official warning that ships ‘must’ remain on shore in every district connecting to the Andaman Sea in Phuket.

Governor Phakkaphong says, “The warning notifications are for controlling, taking care, precaution, reducing risk and preventing an avoidable disaster off the coast of Phuket.”

“For maintaining national security, peace, life and property, Phuket applies the Virtue of International Security Act 2551 with Tourism and Tourist Guide Act 2551 and Disaster Prevention and Mitigation Act 2550.”

“Every ship and vessel which carries any passengers for tourism business, leisure and recreation, in every district in Phuket that are connected to the Andaman Sea ‘must’ remain on shore from today from 6am to January 5 at 12pm or until the Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation Phuket issues a new notification.”
