Meditation training in Phuket
PHUKET CITY: The Middle Way will resume its free meditation training with a special pre-Songkran session at the Phuket Meditation Center starting at 3pm tomorrow.
The teaching monk will be Phra River Bhaddako, a Theravadan Buddhist monk for three years with a bachelor’s degree in philosophy from Swansea University where he founded that school’s Open Meditation Society.
Phra River has studied many religions and spiritual paths, East and West, ancient and new age, as well as diverse techniques in alternative medicine.
His teaching tomorrow, conducted in English, will be on the Dhammakaya Meditation technique.
The three-hour session is open to all and free-of-charge, though donations will be accepted to cover expenses.
To get to the center from the Central Festival intersection:
Head south on the bypass road and take the first left at Wirat Hongyok Rd, near the weekend market. Go past the temple about one kilometer and make a U-turn when you see the park on your right. Take the next left into a housing estate, and enter the third soi on the left, just past a mansion.
