Fire destroys six houses in Wichit, Phuket
Fire has destroyed six houses at the Klong Koh Phee Community in Wichit last night. No injuries or deaths was reported.
Officers from the Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation (DDPM) stationed at Wichit Municipality were notified of a fire in Soi 6 in Klong Koh Phee Community in Wichit at 11:50pm last night.
Fire fighters and the Wichit Police and emergency responders arrived at the scene to find the wooden house well ablaze.
It took about two hours to bring the raging fire under control. Six houses were totally destroyed. No injuries or deaths were reported.
65 year old Thawin Hiranpan, one of the owners of of the damaged houses says, “My family and I had just arrived home when we saw the fire already started at the nearby house. We shouted for helped and tried to put out the fire but failed. At that time there was a strong wind and the fire spread very quickly.”
Police are continuing their investigation to find the cause of the fire.
