Traffic tailbacks in Phuket as tour bus flips

PHUKET: A large tour bus flipped on to its side before dawn today, blocking three lanes of traffic and causing long tailbacks of up to 30 minutes on Phuket’s busy Thepkrasattri Road.

The bus, which reportedly overturned at about 3am, came to rest on the long uphill stretch of Thepkrasattri Road northbound between Supercheap and the new Kasikorn Bank branch further to the north.

The bus remained on its side as of 9am this morning, at which time no heavy equipment had yet arrived to begin the effort of removing the wrecked bus, indicating that the traffic in the area would be badly affected all morning.

Traffic on Thepkrasattri Road southbound continues to flow as normal, however.

Motorists are urged to exercise caution – and patience – when passing through the area.
