Torrential rain, flash flood warning issued for Phuket

PHUKET: The Thai Meteorological Department this afternoon issued a flash flood and strong wave warning for Phuket and the Andaman region.
Issued at 4:30pm, the warning reported the “rather strong” southwest monsoon prevailing over the Andaman Sea, causing torrential rain and isolated heavy rain along Thailand’s southwest coast, including Phuket and neighboring provinces.
“People in risk areas should beware of severe weather and flash floods. Strong wind-waves 2-3 meters high are likely in the Andaman Sea,” the warning said.
All ships should proceed with caution and small vessels should keep ashore until Sunday, the warning read.
