Phuket aircon technician survives three-storey fall

PHUKET: A man luckily survived a fall from a multi-storey bookstore in the heart of Phuket Town yesterday evening, after landing on the company pickup truck he drove to the store.
Lt Phoom Semmaworanon of the Phuket City Police arrived at the scene, a shop called The Book Shop on Yaowarat Road, with Kusoldharm Foundation rescue workers at 6:20pm.
“Mr Top, an 18-year-old air-conditioner technician, was lying on the ground and crying and writhing in pain. His right leg was broken,” Lt Phoom said.
Rescue workers administered first aid and took him to Phuket International Hospital.
“His friends told us that Mr Top fell while trying to retrieve a toolbox on the ledge outside the building,” Lt Phoom explained.
“Luckily, he landed on the company pickup instead of the concrete,” he added.
The pickup truck suffered minor damage from the impact.
