Phuket SEA Coworking Space hosts iSeahorse workshop tonight

PHUKET: The SEA Coworking Space in Phuket Town will be saddling up to host a free iSeahorse workshop this evening at 6:30.
The event is a training workshop for scuba divers, snorkellers and beach goers who have an interest in learning how to survey and identify seahorses in coastal locations, explains Lindsay Aylesworth, lead researcher in Thailand for Project Seahorse and PhD candidate at the University of British Columbia.
“It’s a call for the general public to be what we call a citizen scientist, and to report any sightings of seahorses to seahorse conservation efforts,” Ms Aylesworth told the Phuket Gazette today.
Iseahorse is an online ‘citizen science’ database designed for divers, scientists and other seahorse enthusiasts to upload their photos and sighting information.
Project Seahorse scientists, collaborating with Thailand’s Department of Fisheries and Kasetsart University in Bangkok, will then use this vital information to map data-deficient seahorse populations, determine their threat levels and develop effective conservation actions (story here).
The SEA Coworking Space is located at 94 Phang Nga Rd just beside the clock tower.
