Phuket AMCHAM puts “Best Green Tourism Practices’ on the agenda
PHUKET: The American Chamber of Commerce (AMCHAM) Greater Phuket Chapter is co-ordinating with local environmental welfare group SEEK to hold a seminar focusing on Best Green Tourism Practices in Phuket.
The seminar, to be held at the Holiday Inn Patong on August 24, will highlight how sustainable green programs, ranging from recycling, energy and water savings and more, can help the island.
“Whether you work in a hotel, the tourism industry, property development or run a business here [in Phuket], this practical seminar by leading experts from the hospitality sector is set to help you take the first step toward contributing something back to Phuket,” the organizers say.
Leading the seminar as moderator will be Arnfinn Oines, who heads Soneva Resorts’ Social & Environmental Conscience unit.
The three expert panelists will be Anthony Lark, General Manager of the Trisara resort; Ty Collins, General Manager of the JW Marriott Phuket Beach Resort & Spa in Khao Lak; and Morgan Layberry, Executive Assistant Manager of the Holiday Inn Patong.
The panel will explain corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiatives such as EarthCheck and Green Leaf, LEED certification and basic sustainable programs.
Registration starts at 4pm with the session running from 4:30 to 6pm.
Networking drinks will follow.
Attendance is open to the public for 100 baht, and includes drinks.
