New police chief asks for feedback

PHUKET: The new commander of Phuket Provincial Police has asked for more help and feedback from Thais and also from foreigners, both tourists and those who live here.

Pol Maj Gen Decha Budnampeth, previously Deputy Commander of Phang Nga Provincial Police, took up his new post in Phuket today.

Maj Gen Decha was at Phang Nga Provincial Police for a year, and was the Deputy Commander in Phuket before that. Pol Maj Gen Suwit Othong, until today the Commander of Phuket Provincial Police, is moving to Phang Nga to take up the same position there.

Pol Maj Gen Decha told the Gazette this morning, “I would like to see Phuket people work together to get Phuket back to normal. I would also urge foreigners, both those doing business in the country and tourists, to help because Thailand has been hurt enough.

“Together we can take care of this country. Everyone should help together, and if anyone finds something that is not right, then please tell us. We welcome all suggestions.”

Another senior officer in Phuket Provincial Police who has been promoted is Pol Col Kokiat Wongvorachart, Deputy Commander, who takes up the post of Commander of Pattani Provincial Police, also effective today.
