Mystery surrounds restaurateur’s death

RAWAI: Mystery surrounds the death of 38-year-old restaurateur David “Fat Fingers” Jones of Britain, who was found by the side of the Wiset Rd on the evening of February 2, near the Banthai Restaurant, which he ran with his wife Yuwaluk. Pol Capt Anek Mongkol of Chalong Police Station initially told the Gazette that Mr Jones died in a motorcycle accident,. But Mr Jones’s friend Paul Millward told the Gazette that the bike was upright on its kickstand, and Mr Jones appeared unhurt apart from a grazed cheek. He and K. Yuwalak said that Mr Jones had had a heart condition and theorized that he had stopped the bike before collapsing at the roadside. Since no autopsy was performed, this theory could not be confirmed. Friends arranged for Mr Jones’s body to be moved to Wat Rawai to await the arrival of his mother, who was expected to fly to Phuket on Thursday.
