Taiwanese tourist drowns

CHALONG: A 56-year-old woman from Taiwan died yesterday after she got into difficulties in the sea off Koh Hey (Coral Island) while on a guided tour. Police named the tourist as Huana Yuying, who arrived in Phuket with several members of her family on Saturday. “The area where the agent took the tourists to swim was not very deep and not far away from the shore,” an officer at Chalong Police Station told the Gazette. The woman, who could swim but was reported to suffer from several chronic complaints, was pulled from the water about 9:30 am and died on the way to Phuket International Hospital.
