Loch Palm set for championship finals
KATHU: Surin Bumrungpon scored 67 off a handicap of 4 to win the third and final round of the Loch Palm Golf Club Championship preliminaries, which was held at the club on Saturday. Manoon Ouanpokhlang won Flight A with his score of 69 points off a 12 handicap, beating Blair Speers’ score of 70 points (10) and Dr Kitthipat Pongpet’s 70 (12). Flight B was won with a score of 71 (7) by Don Morris, edging out Laurence Jerris who scored 71 (12) and Niphon Sammakul, who came third with 71 (16). H.W. Lee scored 71 (21) to win Flight C. Kittithi Nawasiri came second with a score of 71 (22) and Suthat Phuek-Amornkul came third with 72 (17). Nearest-to-pin prizes were handed out to Paul Ashman for his shot on the fourth hole, Dr Kitthipat Pongpet for his on the eighth, Sangad Pathom-akakun for his on the 12th and to Krodchakhon Rungmongkolnam for his approach to the 16th hole. Arna Kolee was awarded a prize for the longest drive of the day. The winner of each Flight in each of the three preliminary rounds will go on to play in the Champion of Champions final, which will be held on November 3, teeing off with a shotgun start at 12:30 pm.
