Australian fall survivor recovering in Phuket ICU

PHUKET BREAKING NEWS: The Australian man from Sydney who fell from an 18th storey Phuket hotel balcony earlier this week was still receiving treatment in the Intensive Care Unit of Vachira Phuket Hospital this afternoon.
John Hurley, 39, plunged from the hotel balcony of his room at the Royal Paradise Hotel in Patong on Tuesday.
Mr Hurley underwent surgery at Vachira Phuket Hospital in Phuket Town later that afternoon for a ruptured spleen and to start a series of corrective measures for his left leg, which was shattered by the impact.
Hospital staff confirmed today that Mr Hurley is conscious and is still responding to stimuli, but is now on breathing support.
“He is now getting better,” one hospital worker told the Phuket Gazette.
