South Korean man injured in restaurant bill dispute with Pattaya women

A South Korean man sustained a cut wound to his hand after attempting to wrest a knife from a Thai woman during a dispute over a restaurant bill in Pattaya.
Rescuers from the Sawang Borriboon Dhammasathan Foundation were dispatched to a small alley near Pattaya Walking Street at around 9am, yesterday, April 23, to provide first aid to the 32 year old South Korean man, Mugyeom. He suffered a deep cut to his right hand and was bleeding heavily.
The man appeared angry and directed complaints towards three Thai women present at the scene. One of them was reportedly in tears and had a bloodstain on her dress.
One of the Thai women, 26 year old Chorphaka, informed rescuers that Mugyeom took her friend to an entertainment venue before they dined together in the morning. Her friend invited her and another friend to join them at the restaurant.
According to Chorphaka, Mugyeom ordered food and alcohol and enjoyed the meal as usual. He then asked her friend to pay the bill in advance, assuring her that he would reimburse her upon returning to his condominium.

However, once they arrived at his residence, Mugyeom allegedly refused to pay, prompting a heated argument between him and the three women.
Wishing to avoid further confrontation, the women attempted to leave the premises, but Mugyeom reportedly blocked their exit. They fled the condominium, but he pursued them.

Upon reaching the alley, the South Korean man aggressively confronted the group. One of the women, frightened by his behaviour, reportedly grabbed a knife from a nearby food cart in self-defence.
Chorphaka stated that her friend merely held the knife to protect herself and did not attempt to harm Mugyeom. However, he tried to seize the knife and injured his right hand.

The food cart owner corroborated Chorphaka’s account, stating that the woman wielded the knife for self-protection. He also claimed that Mugyeom attempted to attack the women with a pair of scissors, but he managed to intervene in time.

The women later filed a complaint with the Mueang Pattaya Police Station. All three, along with the food vendor, were questioned by police. Officers plan to summon the South Korean man for questioning once his condition improves.
