Tooth-and-nail: Thai dentist fights antisocial neighbour (video)
A Thai dentist is urgently seeking assistance after enduring nearly a year of antisocial behaviour from a woman living next to his clinic in the Isaan province of Nakhon Ratchasima. Despite his repeated appeals for help, the police and government officials have consistently ignored the case.
The 36 year old dentist reached out to non-profit organisation Saimai Survive as he fears the woman’s behaviour and is worried about the safety of his patients. The disturbances have been ongoing since last year, 2023.
The dentist explained during a press conference yesterday, August 26, that he has rented a two-and-a-half-storey building in the Dan Khun Tod district of Nakhon Ratchasima to operate his dental clinic since 2018. The antisocial woman lives with her husband in the next building. Prior to the recent antisocial behaviour, they had never argued or spoken to each other.
The woman’s husband died last year and her disturbing behaviour developed from then. The dentist believes that her actions changed due to stress after losing her husband.
The dentist publicly shared examples of the woman’s bizarre behaviour. She sprayed water over the clinic’s glass door and windows, placed rocks and rubbish under the cars of the dentist and his patients, kicked refuse at one of his customer’s children—claiming the child disturbed her through telepathy—hid patients’ shoes, and wrote the word “Die” on the dusty windows of cars.
Concerned for his patients’ safety, the dentist filed a complaint against the woman at a police station and called officers to the scene. However, the woman always hid inside her home when the police arrived, so no action has been taken.
The dentist then escalated the issue to the local municipality and the Damrongtham Centre under the Ministry of Interior, but his concerns were not taken seriously.
Ekkaphop Lueangprasert, the founder of Saimai Survive, announced in a press conference that the foundation would assist in arranging a mental health check for the woman. If she is found to be suffering from a mental illness, appropriate treatment will be provided.
If the woman does not display any signs of mental issues, the foundation will follow up on the legal action from the Dan Khun Tod Police Station.
