Thailand’s weekly Covid-19 cases surge over 500 with three fatalities
The Department of Disease Control in Thailand (DDC) reported a sudden surge in weekly Covid-19 cases with over 500 new patients and three fatalities. The DDC revealed 88 cases of pneumonia among Covid patients. The report, which covers the period from November 26 to December 2, confirms an average of 76 hospital admissions and one death per day.
Since the start of the year, the total number of Covid cases has reached 36,204, with 826 cumulative deaths. Among these, 88 patients have been diagnosed with pneumonia and 40 required respiratory support. In response to the worrying trend, the DDC urged the public to adhere to strict respiratory infection prevention measures, including wearing face masks in crowded places and close contact with group 608, which includes unvaccinated children.
The department also recommends frequent hand washing and self-testing for the virus using Antigen Test Kits (ATK), especially for group 608. If the ATK result is positive, individuals are advised to seek medical attention immediately.
The DDC continues to monitor the Covid situation closely, echoing the concern of the Ministry of Public Health over the steady increase in new infections and hospital admissions. The department is stepping up its efforts to curb the spread of the virus and has called for public cooperation to adhere to preventative measures and get vaccinated against coronavirus.
Despite the alarming numbers, the DDC remains optimistic, citing the country’s health infrastructure’s readiness to manage the situation. The DDC is working relentlessly to bring the situation under control, relying heavily on public cooperation in following the recommended preventative measures and getting vaccinated.
