A Thai teacher at a private school in the central province of Lop Buri physically assaulted two 12 year old schoolboys. One of the victims suffered broken ribs as a result of the assault.

Parents of the two victims filed a complaint against the male teacher, Atisit Ninlanark, at Mueang Lop Buri Police Station yesterday, December 27. The parents reported that the boys were attacked by the teacher on December 26 over a misunderstanding.

Officers questioned the two boys and learned that the boy, identified only as A, spotted Atisit’s book on the floor and picked it up to put it on his desk. Atisit encountered A holding his book and mistook him for a thief.

Atisit dragged A into another classroom and repeatedly punched him in the face and back until he collapsed on the floor. A said Atisit continued to stomp on his chest. A’s friend, identified as B, witnessed the incident and came to intervene in the assault. Atisit turned his attention to B. He punched B and banged B’s head against the wall.

The two students took the matter to their parents. A felt pain in his chest, so his parents took him to the hospital and found out that two of his ribs had been broken. B also had a medical examination so that he could report the incident to the police. He felt dizzy and had a bump on his head.

Other teachers at the school revealed to police that this was not the first that Atisit abused students. He had done this several times before, even when the school director warned him about his abusive behaviour.

According to the teachers, the school board was informed of the incident and will set up a committee to investigate the matter. Police told ThaiRath that they were examining the evidence and would later summon the accused teacher for questioning.

Another abusive teacher was reported in September this year. A Thai female teacher was caught on CCTV cameras slapping a schoolboy in the face at a school in Bangkok. The victim revealed to his family that the teacher wanted him to call her mother instead of the teacher, but he refused.

Former students came forward to reveal that the teacher had a history of punishing students with physical assault and had received no punishment despite many students filing complaints against her.
