Thai man shoots dead Laotian woman at karaoke bar in Phattalung

Police yesterday arrested a 63 year old Thai man after he shot dead a Laotian woman at a karaoke bar in the southern province of Phatthalung.
Officers from Khao Chaison Police Station investigated the fatal shooting at the rear of the karaoke bar at around 1am yesterday, March 12.
The lifeless body of Pupae was found at the scene with 14 gunshot wounds across her body. Eight .38 calibre bullet casings were found at the scene, with six more inside the bar.
CCTV footage clearly showed that the gunman was 63 year old Thawee, a customer of the bar. He was seen walking out of the bar after the shooting.
Pupae’s boyfriend, 59 year old Niyom, told police that he drove Pupae to work at the bar and came to pick her up at midnight. He had done this throughout their six-month relationship. He did not expect that he would be collecting her lifeless body that night.
Pupae’s colleagues claimed that the woman had been dating two men, Niyom and Thawee, at the same time. Thawee supported her financially and frequently visited the bar as a customer.

They reported hearing Pupae arguing with Thawee four to five days before the incident. Pupae attempted to end the relationship with Thawee, but he refused to let her go.
Before the shooting, Pupae saw Thawee arriving at the bar in his pickup and rushed to hide at the rear of the bar. Thawee then ordered a bottle of beer. The bar owner and two other bar girls attended to him.

Thawee did not want any services but insisted on speaking to Pupae, who refused. Angered, Thawee began firing randomly towards the rear of the bar where Pupae was hiding.
He then approached her, with witnesses reported hearing Pupae scream and beg for her life but Thawee showed no mercy.

Officers from Khao Chaison Police Station arrested Thawee at around 10am yesterday in his home province of Prachuap Khiri Khan.
The charges issued against Thawee have not yet been disclosed. Following a similar incident, he may face charges of intentional murder, which could result in the death penalty, life imprisonment, or a prison term of 15 to 20 years.
