A Thai man in the central province of Ratchaburi took to Facebook to share his shocking discovery of a venomous snake in his ice pop.

The man posted pictures of his ice lolly yesterday, March 4, with a caption that read, “The doe-eyed snake, are you dead yet? Black bean ice pop from an ice cream cart. This is the real picture and real situation. I bought this popsicle myself.”

In the pictures shared in the post, the ice pop was topped with black beans. Unexpectedly, a strange and unwelcome addition was mixed in—the entire body of a snake was stuffed inside it. The snake was bright green and black, but its species has not yet been confirmed.

The post garnered over 7,600 reactions, 2,200 comments, and 8,500 shares. Netizens flooded the comment section with their shocked reactions and guesses as to the snake’s type.

Many netizens speculated that the snake might be a chrysopelea ornata, or golden tree snake, which is mildly venomous. This species is common in Thailand, as well as in China, India, Sri Lanka, Burma, Indochina, Malaysia, and the Philippines.

Thai people often refer to it as the Khiao Phra-in snake, with “Khiao” meaning green and “Phra-in” referring to the green-skinned Hindu god Indra.

Many Thai netizens shared many humorous comments.

“New recipe, high-protein ice cream!”

“This is actually the main ingredient, but no one else noticed because the leftover snakes were blended finely.”

“The stick of the ice pop can be exchanged for a gift: a coffin.”

“Don’t eat it. Let’s wait for it to melt to save the snake.”

“You are a regular customer, and this is your gift.”

Since the snake is venomous, many Thai netizens questioned whether its poison could be transferred to the body after consumption. As of now, no snake experts or specialists have come forward with an answer.

Other netizens suggested that avoiding the ice pop would be the wisest choice, as it may pose a risk due to unsanitary production methods.
