Thai man physically assaults mother over inheritance dispute
A Thai man physically assaulted his mother over an inheritance dispute, accusing her of squandering the family’s assets with her new husband following their father’s death.
A Thai mother took to social media to share videos showing her son attacking her outside her home in the southern province of Surat Thani.
“I have been caring for my children for 34 years, hoping that they would look after me when I grew old. But instead, my children attacked me. This is a real story that happened to me. Their father died eight months ago, and I have been assaulted twice during this time. I can no longer stand this.”
In the video, the woman’s son ran out of his pickup and immediately kicked his mother, who was standing outside the house.
Another video showed the son attacking his mother and pulling off her shirt outside her home. A knife and a wooden stick were also visible in the footage.
The mother’s post was reshared by the renowned Facebook page Esor News, drawing significant public attention. However, she later deleted the post from her account.
In an interview with Channel 7, the mother explained that her ex-husband had died in July last year, and all of his assets had come under her care. Following his death, she moved out of their home to live with her new boyfriend.
She insisted that she had already drafted a will to distribute the assets among her children and grandchildren, but her son and daughter were dissatisfied with the arrangement. They repeatedly harassed her at her home and physically assaulted her, as seen in the videos.
To protect herself, she installed a large sign banning her son and daughter from entering her home and informing neighbours that they were a threat to her safety. Fearing for her life, she decided to share the videos on social media.
The son denied his mother’s accusations, insisting that everything she had said was a lie. He claimed that neither he nor his sister wanted the assets for themselves but only wished for their children to inherit them for a secure future.
He also alleged that his mother moved in with her new boyfriend just a month after their father’s death and spent his father’s money with her new partner. Additionally, he claimed that his sister had been physically assaulted by their mother, which angered him.
On the day of the incident, he said he confronted his mother about the alleged abuse of his sister and the inheritance dispute, but their argument escalated into physical violence, as shown in the video.
Channel 7 reported that both parties filed complaints against each other, but the police did not disclose details of the case to the public.
