Thai man dies after falling from Khao Hua Nak Viewpoint in Chaiyaphum
A Thai man fell from the Khao Hua Nak Viewpoint in the Isaan province of Chaiyaphum on Saturday and later died in hospital.
Rangers from Phu Lan Kha National Park, along with rescuers from Sawang Khunnatum Chaiyaphum, were alerted to the accident at around 5pm on Saturday, December 7. The victim, later identified as 59 year old Sunan, reportedly fell from the Khao Hua Nak Viewpoint.
The viewpoint, a popular attraction among visitors, is a cliff located over 800 metres above sea level. Sunan fell from a height of 30 to 50 metres.
Rescuers had to carefully rappel down the cliff to reach Sunan. However, the mission was fraught with difficulties due to the dense tree cover in the area. Eventually, the team opted to hike to the spot beneath the cliff where Sunan was found.
According to Matichon, Sunan was lying on the ground, injured and crying for help. He informed officers that he was experiencing severe pain in both legs before losing consciousness.
The rescue team placed Sunan on a stretcher and carefully carried him to the top of the cliff. CPR was administered during the rescue effort, which took approximately an hour before he was transferred to Chaiyaphum Hospital.
Sunan’s friends reported that they visited the tourist attraction together and were waiting at the viewpoint to photograph the sunset. Tragically, Sunan stumbled and fell from the cliff.
Despite receiving treatment, Sunan succumbed to his injuries at 10.20pm on the same day.
