Thai immigration chief asks reporter, ‘Do you have a husband?’ to dodge question

In an interview about the macau888 gambling case, Thailand’s Chief of Immigration dodged a female reporter’s question by responding, “Do you have a husband?”

The interview followed the interrogation of police officer Kunakorn “Bright” Khajohnboonthaworn who was accused of being one of four brothers operating the illegal gambling website macau888.

According to the police force, Captain Bright proved his innocence during questioning at Suvarnabhumi Airport Police Station after being summoned back to Thailand.

Today, the Commissioner of the Immigration Bureau, Pol. Lt. Gen. Phakphumphiphat Sujjapan said that Captain Bright has “outstanding abilities.”

The reporter asked him, “What outstanding abilities does he have?”

To which he responded, “Do you have a husband?”

She said, “No.”

“What kind of special abilities would your dream man have?” he asked.

“That’s nothing to do with my question,” she replied.

After the unwarranted, awkward, and irrelevant inquiry into the reporter’s personal life, the immigration chief rambled on about how every person is special in their own way without answering the original question at all, only stating that Captain Bright is “knowledgable” and “beneficial.”

Despite “proving his innocence,” Captain Bright handed in a letter of resignation yesterday citing that he has to take care of his elderly father.

Macau888 came into the spotlight when famous actress Arisara “Due” Thongborisut made allegations against her ex-boyfriend Chaiwat “Benz Daemon” Khajohnboonthaworn and his brothers. She said she exposed him after she was “brutally abused” by him during their relationship.

The police arrested 46 people related to macau888 so far but still have not arrested the alleged kingpin Benz Daemon, who fled to Hong Kong to avoid arrest.

Thai police said they would seize Benz Daemon’s rare sportscar, the Lamborghini Mad Bull Liberty Walk Aventador V2, but then they couldn’t find it.

The car is valued at over 40 million baht and is one of only 50 in the world. It is the only one in Thailand.

Police did seize several other luxury cars belonging to suspects such as a grey Mercedes-Benz AMG G 63 belonging to Kittiphong Kachonbunthavorn, one of the “four brothers” who ran the gambling website.

Police also seized a Mercedes-Benz G 400, a Nissan Skyline R32, and a pink Nissan cerfiro. However, there is still no sign of Benz Daemon, his Lambo, or his other brothers.

This morning, news surfaced that a drunk crowd control police officer crashed his car into a restaurant in Bangkok, seriously injuring three people who are currently being treated in intensive care.
