Thai Cabinet wraps up 2023 with a four-day new year surprise

In a recent development, the Thai Cabinet has approved a four-day public holiday to usher in the new year. As confirmed by the secretary-general of the prime minister, Prommin Lertsuridej, this extended break will begin on Friday, December 29, and last until Monday, January 1.

Additionally, it has been revealed that proposals for an even longer holiday for the subsequent new year are already under consideration. The proposed break for the new year of 2025 is expected to last five days, starting on December 28, 2024, and concluding on January 1, 2025.
