A stray dog brought a bone from a roadside grassland onto the road in the northern province of Tak, leading to the discovery of a sack containing the decomposed body of an unidentified young girl yesterday, February 27.

Residents of the Ban Nam Dip community in the Mae Sot district of Tak called officers from Mae Sot Police Station to investigate a suspicious green fertiliser sack emitting a strong unpleasant smell on the side of the road near the community.

According to locals, they spotted a stray dog carrying a bone onto the community road. The bone was too large to belong to any stray dogs or other animals, prompting them to search for its source. They then discovered the green sack in the roadside grassland, about 8 kilometres from the road.

Police examined the sack and found the body of a girl aged between 12 and 13 inside. Her body was completely decomposed, and she was suspected to have died approximately 20 to 30 days before the discovery.

According to the police report, the girl was wearing black sweatpants and a sports T-shirt from Sanparai School, which is located 4 kilometres from the scene. Her sweatpants were pulled down, leading officers to suspect sexual assault before murder.

Officers questioned the school’s director, Suppawit Plukpanyadee, about any reports of missing students.

Suppawit explained that the T-shirt found with the body was part of the school uniform distributed to students two years ago. However, he had never received any reports of missing students or alumni.

Another similar case was reported this week when a local fisherman discovered the body of a woman in a paddy field in the central province of Nakhon Pathom.

The woman was initially identified as a trans woman, but police later confirmed that she was a 63 year old woman named Noi.

A 59 year old Thai man was later arrested for Noi’s murder. He confessed to killing her to steal her gold accessories. However, all of the accessories were later found to be counterfeit.
