PM Srettha’s surprise visit to Yala province sparks tourist frenzy
Prime Minister Srettha Thavisin, flanked by a cadre of ministers, paid a surprise visit to Yala Province yesterday, igniting a blaze of excitement aimed at boosting the region’s tourism.
This high-stakes visit, part of an expansive tour spanning Pattani, Yala, and Narathiwat, aims to catapult Yala’s tourism sector into the stratosphere, setting a bold target of 2 million visitors, both domestic and international, for the year.
The premier’s action-packed agenda kicked off with a ceremonial pilgrimage to the revered Yala City Pillar Shrine, setting the tone for a day brimming with engagement and innovation. Leading a procession through Yala’s Learning Park (TK Park), PM Srettha and his entourage delved deep into discussions with students, immersing themselves in projects centred around agriculture-focused applications.
But the excitement didn’t stop there. The Bangkok-born Srettha engaged in a spirited dialogue with students from Kanarasadornbumroong Yala School, addressing concerns about educational parity across the southern border provinces. Proposals to amplify Yala’s allure as a tourist magnet and bridge regional disparities were met with fervent enthusiasm, reported Pattaya Mail.
The crescendo of the visit reached its peak as the Thai prime minister graced a musical performance by Yala Municipality’s youth orchestra. The Thai PM’s day ended with a reverential visit to Wat Chang Hai, where the premier paid homage to the sacred Buddha statue, sealing the day with a touch of spiritual grace.
In related news, in response to mounting social media uproar over the Rama II highway’s perpetual construction nightmares, the Bangkok-born PM issued a directive to the Transport Ministry to solve traffic congestion before the impending Songkran holiday frenzy. Connecting nearby Hua Hin to the capital, the route is essential for those planning to travel to the seaside resort from Bangkok.
In other news, PM Srettha unveiled his comprehensive vision for Thailand’s economic boom, focusing on tourism enhancement and the liberalisation of alcohol consumption at internationally renowned concerts. Speaking at the Thailand Vision gathering at Government House, the 62 year old PM’s address, which was broadcast live on NBT television, presented his ambitious strategies to foster economic growth.
