Possessed former security guard has fatal fall

PHUKET: A former security guard fell 10 floors to his death from his home and former workplace after claiming he was being haunted and possessed by ghosts.

Khathayut Sukkhlum, 36, was fired from his job at the Sinsetthee Resident Town 1 building in the Hua Mark area of Bangkok about three months prior to his death.

His broken body was discovered around 10am on February 17.

Witnesses at the building told investigators Mr Khathayut had lost his job after his behavior became increasingly strange. He used to shake uncontrollably and tell residents of the building he was possessed.

He also claimed his room was haunted by two ghosts – a man and a woman.

Three days before his death he stood in front of the block shaking and telling passersby he had been possessed by the spirit of a child.

Officers from Hua Mark Police Station have yet to establish the reason for Mr Khathayut’s death.

Among the theories put forward is that he slipped and fell off his balcony while doing his washing.

Alternatively, he may have jumped from the building because of the stress of losing his job.

Finally, officers say he may have thought he was being pursued by ghosts and leapt from the balcony to escape them.
