PAO official escapes rape attempt by colleague at Pathum Thani love hotel
CCTV footage backs up victim’s shocking account
A female official from a Provincial Administrative Organisation (PAO) narrowly escaped a rape attempt by a colleague at a love hotel in the central province of Pathum Thani on June 19.
The victim complained to Kukot Police Station, accusing a member of the Khlong Luang PAO, Noppanan “Tee” Noocharoen, of attempted rape. The victim is reportedly a PAO official from a northern province of Thailand, while the suspect was based in the Khlong Luang area of Pathum Thani province.
According to her statement, she and other PAO members from across the country were attending a seminar in Pathum Thani on the day of the incident. A party followed the seminar, and at around 11pm, Tee volunteered to drive her back to her accommodation.
The woman agreed and entered Tee’s black SUV. While in the vehicle, she asked him to wait for her colleagues, but he refused and quickly drove away from the venue. However, instead of heading to her accommodation, Tee took her to a love hotel.
There, he reportedly forced her into a room, hugged and kissed her against her will. When she told him clearly that she did not want to have sex, Tee allegedly responded, “Then we can just cuddle and sleep, OK?”
She said she pretended to agree to protect herself, then seized the opportunity to flee as Tee laid down on the bed. She ran to a nearby convenience store in tears, where a staff member helped her contact her colleagues, who came to collect her.
CCTV footage from both the hotel and the convenience store reportedly matched the victim’s account, prompting police to issue a summons warrant for Tee.
The woman stated her determination to pursue the case to the fullest extent of the law and expressed her wish for Tee to be removed from his position due to his violent behaviour. It was not reported whether Tee had responded to the summons or acknowledged the complaint.
