Burmese woman stabbed in Nakhon Pathom domestic row
A domestic dispute in Nakhon Pathom province escalated into a violent confrontation, resulting in a Burmese woman being critically injured after being stabbed. The incident, which occurred in the early morning hours yesterday, has led to the apprehension and confession of the assailant, who claimed the stabbing was unintentional.
In the workers’ quarters of a company in Bang Len district, Nakhon Pathom province, a heated argument broke out between a man named Yein and his girlfriend’s brother. The 25 year old girlfriend, identified as Lintun, attempted to intervene in the altercation, which tragically resulted in her being stabbed in the chest with a seven-inch knife.
The authorities were notified by Bang Len Hospital, where Lintun was admitted with severe injuries and was unable to provide a statement due to her condition. The police, led by Deputy Inspector Uthis Lao Ha of Bang Len Police Station, arrived at the scene, where they discovered bloodstains and the weapon used in the assault.
Initial investigations revealed a complex backdrop of jealousy and anger. Yein, Lintun’s boyfriend, had been involved in a loud dispute with her brother, fuelled by anger over Yein’s alleged infidelity that had upset Lintun’s family. As the fight became physical, Lintun, seeing that Yein was heavily intoxicated, stepped in to calm the situation. However, the chaos led to Yein stabbing Lintun in the chest, resulting in life-threatening injuries.
After the incident, Yein fled the scene but was later apprehended by police. In custody, Yein admitted to the stabbing but insisted it was a mistake made without intent to kill. He is now facing attempted murder charges as the investigation continues, reported KhaoSod.
