The Thai authorities, led by an influencer rescued a 23 year old mother and her two year old child from a domestic abuse situation by the child’s 22 year old father in Pathum Thani. The father claimed he could not remember his actions.

Influencer Kan Jompalang, with Khlong Luang Police Station officers, Police Colonel Kiattisak Mitprasat, Police Lieutenant Colonel Chalad Homngern, Pol. Lt. Col. Suchai Saengsawang, Pol. Lt. Col. Sirapop Bualuang, Pol. Lt. Col. Weera Sookchana, the Khlong Luang investigative team, and social worker Arirat Narudomphong, arrived at a rental house in Khlong Si subdistrict, Khlong Luang district, Pathum Thani province.

They assisted the 23 year old victim, named Warunee, who had been repeatedly abused by her husband, and her child, a two year old boy referred to as A.

Warunee recounted that she had been in a relationship with her partner for four years, during which he often resorted to violence during arguments. She explained that her partner worked as a food delivery rider. The abuse had escalated over the past month, with her husband recently harming their child before turning his aggression towards her.

Police apprehended 22-year-old Ampol while he was with friends at a market in Khlong Si. He was taken to the police station for questioning. Ampol admitted to arguing with his wife and assaulting her two to three times but denied harming their child. He promised to cease his violent behaviour.

“I will love my wife and child.”

Kan Jompalang shared that a video showed the father violently attacking the mother and child, punching and kicking them.

“I tried to contact the victim initially, but she was hesitant to provide information. Now we have the necessary details from her and the authorities.”

Domestic violence

Neighbours confirmed hearing the child cry regularly and had overheard shouts of “Why did you slap my child?”

The situation’s severity prompted influencer Kan Jompalang to intervene, expressing concerns about the father’s unpredictable behaviour.

“If he claims he can’t remember what he did, that’s alarming. If his wife and child stay with him, who knows what might happen in a fit of rage? We must ensure the father changes his behaviour while the mother and child stay at a safe house.”

Arirat Narudomphong stated that the mother and child would be placed in the Pathum Thani Children’s and Family Shelter for their safety. She noted that the mother was still experiencing significant stress and that the father would not be permitted to visit the child during this period, reported KhaoSod.
