Man murders ex-girlfriend, friend plays dead to survive in Pattaya
A man murdered his ex-girlfriend in front of Mantra Pura Resort in Pattaya in the early hours of this morning. The victim’s friend pretended to be dead to save her own life.
Officers from Mueang Pattaya Police Station and a rescue team were informed of the shooting incident and rushed to the resort at 4.30am. Upon reaching the site, officers found two women lying on top of each other in front of the resort.
The first victim, 32 year old Juthatip Aryu-yuen, had two gunshot wounds to her face and neck. The other victim, identified as Apatsanan Traisopin, lay underneath Juthathip’s body and was unharmed but shocked and shaking.
The rescue team tried to revive Juthatip through CPR but, unfortunately, she did not respond to treatment. She was then taken to Bangkok Pattaya Hospital to see if they could save her but, unfortunately, she passed away.
Apatsanan reported that the alleged gunman was Juthatip’s ex-boyfriend. He parked his motorcycle in front of the resort and shot Juthatip. Apatsanan told police that Juthatip was worried that she would be injured. She held her tight to protect her and got shot twice.
Apatsanan said she and Juthatip fell onto the floor. She was scared that the gunman would come to get her, so she pretended to be dead. the gunman then ran back to his motorcycle and rode off.
Apatsanan described the perpetrator as wearing a black shirt and riding a Honda Forza motorcycle. The authorities are investigating the case and checking security cameras along the road in front of the resort and questioning people in the area to apprehend the suspect.
Unfortunately, murder and violent acts resulting from a love affair are common bedfellows in Thailand.
Three weeks ago, two Thai women were murdered by their lovers. A 21 year old woman named Chonnikarrn Guakhuntod was stabbed to death at a restaurant in the eastern province of Trat. Another woman, 28 year old Natticha Rodart, was murdered after hiding in a sauna tent before the murderer, her boyfriend, committed suicide.
In another incident in February, a jealous husband stabbed his wife with scissors in front of their 14 year old son at their apartment in Pattaya. The son alerted the police to help his mother, but it was too late.
If anyone experiences domestic violence or witnesses any violent acts, please report it to the authorities through hotlines like Social Assistance Centre 1300, Childline 1387, Patrol and Special Operation Police 191, and Office of the Attorney General 1157.
