84 year old Thai woman attacked and nearly raped in Samut Prakan home

An 84 year old Thai woman sought assistance from her neighbours yesterday, claiming that a man attacked her and attempted to rape her at her home in Samut Prakan province.
Neighbours of the elderly woman, identified only as Nuan, contacted officers from Bang Pli Police Station and rescuers from the Ruam Katanyu Foundation at around 3pm. They found her lying on her bed with multiple wounds and bruises across her body.
According to ThaiRath, Nuan had a deformed right little finger, a head wound, a deep cut to her left wrist, and another injury to her ear. Rescuers provided first aid before rushing her to Bang Pli Hospital.
Nuan told police and rescuers that she lived in the house with her son, but he was away at work at the time of the incident. She said the attack took place between 10pm and 11pm when the suspect forced his way into her home.
Nuan explained that the man did not speak Thai, though she was unable to identify his nationality. She suspected he was a migrant worker living in the area. He allegedly attacked her immediately and attempted to rape her but failed.

The elderly victim recounted that the suspect then lay next to her on the bed, prompting her to plead with him to leave her alone.
She reportedly said…
“Why do you still want to do this to me? Let me go. I’m too old.”
Nuan claimed the suspect tried to rape her again, without success. He remained in her house until about 1am before leaving. She said she lost consciousness and only woke up the following afternoon, when she sought help from her neighbours.

Neighbours initially believed Nuan might have been confused due to her age, but they were convinced after seeing the injuries on her body. They also insisted that her son always locked the house when leaving and that nothing like this had ever occurred in the community before.
Police have collected evidence from the scene and interviewed Nuan at the hospital. They assured her they would bring the suspect to justice once sufficient evidence had been gathered.
