The arrest was prompted by a report from a Japanese tourist who claimed his white titanium iPhone 16 Pro had been stolen while it was charging near seating outside the restroom by Gate 1 on the second floor of the terminal.

The tourist police at Suvarnabhumi Airport collaborated with airport security to review CCTV footage. The video revealed an Asian male suspect taking the phone.

Upon identifying the suspect from the footage, police approached Sakkarin and requested to inspect his belongings. Despite his initial denial, further investigation was conducted.

The officers revisited the CCTV footage, which showed Sakkarin placing his luggage near Gate 1 on the second floor. When Sakkarin was escorted to the location where his baggage was left, a search revealed the stolen iPhone 16 Pro concealed within his suitcase.

Sakkarin was informed of his arrest and the charges of theft in an airport during the night. He was also apprised of his rights before being handed over to the Suvarnabhumi Airport Police Station for legal proceedings, reported KhaoSod.
