Bangkok man goes on violent rampage after woman rejects him
A Thai man stabbed a married woman yesterday for rejecting his advances, crashed his car into six vehicles and nine people, slit his own throat, and drove his damaged car to a hospital in the Bang Khen area of Bangkok, where he caused further chaos before being arrested.
One of the injured victims called officers from Bang Khen Police Station to respond to the incident, which took place in a community on Soi Pahonyothin 48 yesterday afternoon, November 11. However, the suspect, later identified as 57 year old Arun, managed to flee the scene.
A 73 year old Thai woman, Urai Yomying, witnessed the incident and recounted to Channel 3 that Arun arrived in the community in a red hatchback to meet a woman named Aor, with whom he was infatuated. Arun and Aor were both already married and Aor rejected his advances.
Upon meeting Aor, Arun suddenly stabbed her, causing severe injury. Aor managed to escape and sought help from Urai, who rushed her to a hospital on her motorcycle. After leaving Aor under the care of medical staff, Urai returned home only to find that Arun had gone on a violent rampage.
Another resident, Kittithata, told the media that Arun crashed his car into her motorcycle, which was parked outside her home. She pleaded with Arun to stop but he ignored her and reversed, colliding with another motorcycle and its rider. He then drove forward, hitting Kittithata’s sedan, before leaving the area.
Self-harm
Arun reportedly drove his car to a garage near Kittithata’s home and rammed into multiple vehicles belonging to the garage’s clients. He even struck the garage owner and his wife, though their conditions were not disclosed.
Leaving the garage, Arun then drove into a house across the street, damaging two cars parked inside. When the homeowner called the police, Arun became angry and assaulted them. He proceeded to another nearby house, where he caused further property damage.
In a shocking turn, Arun stopped his car, took out a knife, and slit his own throat in front of onlookers. He then drove out of the community, heading towards a nearby hospital for treatment. He ultimately came to a stop at the hospital after crashing into the fence.
A total of six vehicles were damaged including four cars and two motorcycles. Five homes were destroyed, and nine locals were injured in the incident.
Police managed to detain Arun at the hospital and plan to question him, along with the victims and other witnesses, once their health conditions improve. Further details on the case have not yet been disclosed by the police.
In a video shared by Channel 3, Arun was lying on the hospital bed and his body was covered in blood. The severity of his condition was not revealed in the report nor whether he was under the influence of drink and drugs.
