66 more foreigners arrested in nationwide crackdown

Tourist police have arrested 66 more foreigners during crackdowns around the country last night (Wednesday).

Pol Maj-General Surachet Hakpal, deputy tourist police chief spoke whilst in Soi Cowboy off Sukhumvit Road early this morning to announce the results of the operation.

He said 11 foreigners were arrested for overstaying their visas and 51 others for unlawfully entering the Kingdom while four others were arrested on other charges. He said the operation searched 126 spots nationwide.

Surachet said Tourist Police have joined forces with other police to conduct a search of 3,126 spots nationwide in 23 operations so far and arrested 868 foreigners for violating Thai law. Surachet said the arrested foreigners would be blacklisted and deported.

So far, police have searched 2,346 areas and arrested 490 foreigners in five operations under the codename of X-Ray Outlaw Foreigner, mostly targeting people of darker skin colour and from African countries.
