Phuket airport runway to be closed for maintenance

Phuket International Airport Director, Petch Chancharoen, has announced that some runways and taxiways will be closed from April 27 – May 8 for 6 hours each day for cleaning and maintenance.

The closing time of the runways and taxiways will start 30 minutes after midnight – 06.30am on each of the repair days.

Also, the taxiway “P” will be closed for repairs to the surface from April 30 – May 3 from 6.30am – 12.30pm. These closures follow the annual operation plan of Phuket International Airport under the standards of ICAO.

The operations are expected affect some flights and will cause inconvenience to the passengers (on top of all the other inconveniences at the moment).

“We apologise for the inconvenience. The next maintenance period will be in July and September and we will coordinate with all sections involved to prepare the most effective services. Passenger safety is the priority,” he said.
