Three injured in Dong Khui motorbike sidecar crash (video)

An accident involving two motorbike sidecars occurred outside the Dong Khui municipal fresh market, resulting in injuries to three men, including a monk.

The incident, which drew widespread social media attention, happened on February 6 at around 4.36pm.

The Dong Khui Municipality’s rescue team reported that a sidecar driven by a man in monk-like attire attempted to overtake another sidecar on the Chandan-Dong Khui road but collided with it.

This caused both drivers and a passenger to be thrown from their vehicles.

One driver, between 50 and 60 years old, was found unconscious with a laceration on his left thumb and was transported to Chandan Hospital.

The second sidecar was driven by a monk from a temple in Takut Rai, Chondan district. Despite efforts to revive him, he remained unconscious due to a head injury and was also taken to the hospital.

The passenger with the monk experienced back pain and abrasions and was too disoriented to provide information, so was similarly hospitalised.

Following the incident, there was a flurry of comments on social media, many questioning the monk’s urgency and criticising the situation.

“Why is a monk in such a hurry?”

“Monks should be calm.”

Others expressed concern for the wellbeing of those involved, hoping for their safe recovery, reported KhaoSod.

Later updates indicated that all involved were in stable condition and recovering.

The Sawang Boriboon Rescue Centre received reports on February 6, at 4.36am of a fatal motorcycle accident near Soi Thappraya 9.

Emergency responders arrived to find 53 year old Leo Williams, an American national, lying lifeless in a pool of blood on the road median.

His black Kawasaki Z1000 had skidded over 300 metres, leaving an oil trail before finally coming to a stop.
