Cowardly British man on run in Thailand after abusing ex-girlfriend
A cowardly British man is on the run and believed to be in Thailand after administering the “most despicable psychological, emotional, and physical abuse,” on a former girlfriend.
Nicholas Cash was found guilty of several charges, including controlling or coercive behaviour, assault causing bodily harm, criminal damage, and administering a poisonous or noxious substance with intent. These convictions followed a trial at Bournemouth Crown Court on February 24, 2023.
The 23 year old defendant from Bournemouth failed to attend his trial and is currently wanted by the police. It is suspected he fled to Thailand, but this has yet to be confirmed, reported Bournemouth Daily Echo. The cowardly British man is scheduled to be sentenced on March 14, at Bournemouth Crown Court.
The charges against Cash are related to his behaviour between February and November 2020 toward a former partner. The court heard how he subjected his victim to a series of threats and physical assaults, as well as damaging her mobile phone. On one occasion, he shot her with a BB gun, resulting in cuts, bruises, and abrasions.
In the context of a controlling relationship, the British man would leave his partner locked up in their shared flat all day and confiscated her mobile phone. He also repeatedly assaulted her and made numerous threats.
In October 2020, the defendant used a piece of glass from a broken picture frame to cut the victim’s right cheek. She also reported that he had strangled her on several occasions.
Detective Constable Michael White of Dorset Police described Cash’s behaviour as “the most despicable psychological, emotional, and physical abuse.”
He added…
“We take all reports of domestic abuse extremely seriously and are committed to supporting victims as well as ensuring offenders are held to account.
“We have worked hard to compile evidence and secure a conviction against Cash. Now we are determined to locate him to ensure he faces the consequences of his abhorrent offending.
“I would urge anyone with information as to his whereabouts to please contact Dorset Police.”
The public is urged to contact Dorset Police with any information regarding Cash’s whereabouts. In the event that he is seen, the police advise that 999 should be dialled immediately, while those with other information should call 101, quoting the occurrence number 55230015329.
Cash isn’t the first British man to have fled to Thailand after being found guilty.
Michael Foster was unanimously found guilty of rape in absentia in September, reported Lancashire Police. Then in November, he was found guilty once more at Preston Crown Court.
A Lancashire Police investigation revealed he fled England to Thailand and has not returned since.
