C’est la Fete! – It’s party time!

PHUKET: As the French saying goes – Un repas sans vin est comme un jour sans soleil – a meal without wine is like a day without sunshine. And even though there might not be quite enough sunshine in Phuket these days, there shouldn’t be a lack of wine and great food during the Bastille Day celebrations in Patong on July 14.

La Fete Nationale” is celebrated to commemorate the storming of the prison of la Bastille, a flashpoint of the French Revolution. But even if you’re not French (or revolutionary) and you still enjoy brochettes de boeuf, panier de crudites et ses petites sauces or foret noire as much as the next guy, you shouldn’t miss the French national holiday celebrations organized by the l’Union des Francais de l’etranger (French Foreign Union) at Royal Phawadee Village. A menu full of French delicatessen goodies, acrobatic show, live french music (hip-hop included) and free flowing fermented grape juice from 8 to 10:30pm is what you’ll get for 1500B. For more information see: 14juilletapatong.com.

If you are busy on that day you can always celebrate later at the Boathouse Wine & Grill. A special six-course classic French cuisine degustation menu, paired with French wines, will be available for the whole month.
