Three killed, three injured in linked Nottingham violent incidents
A series of violent incidents in Nottingham, UK, has left three individuals dead and another three injured. The events took place early on Tuesday morning, and authorities are still piecing together the details. Here is the information available so far:
Two individuals were discovered dead on Ilkeston Road, west of Nottingham’s city centre, shortly after 4am. In a separate incident, a van attempted to run over three people on Milton Street in the city centre, leaving them injured and requiring hospital treatment. Another man was found dead on Magdala Road, approximately a 10-minute drive away. Police are connecting all three fatalities, but have not provided any further timing details beyond the 4am incident.
A 31-year-old man has been arrested on Bentinck Road on suspicion of murder and remains in police custody. At this time, there is no information regarding whether the incident was terror-related.
Eyewitness accounts reveal that the two individuals stabbed on Ilkeston Road were a young woman and a man or boy who appeared to be quite young. No details have surfaced about the man discovered dead on Magdala Road. The three injured individuals on Milton Street are receiving treatment in hospital, with one eyewitness describing a man and woman being struck by a van. The witness recounted:
“The woman was sitting up on the kerb – she looked OK – the man was laying down but then he got up. But I just can’t believe he was able to get up.”
Details about the third injured person have not been released.
Lynn Haggitt, who witnessed the van driving into two people on Milton Street, stated that she saw the driver look in his mirror, notice a police car behind him, and then accelerate before driving “straight into” the victims. She said, “The woman went on the kerb and the man went up in the air. It was such a bang – I wish I never saw it – it’s really shaken me up.”
Another eyewitness, who chose to remain anonymous, reported seeing a young man and young woman stabbed on Ilkeston Road around 4am. He described the attacker as a “guy dressed all in black with a hood and rucksack grappling with some people. It was a girl, and a man or boy she was with – they looked quite young.” The witness recalled hearing the woman scream for help and watched as the attacker stabbed the male victim first, followed by the woman. The witness called emergency services, and police arrived within five minutes, with paramedics spending 40 minutes attempting to revive the pair.
