Suspected insurgents have blown up three ATMs in two districts in the Southern Thai province of Pattani, near the Malaysian border. The assailants escaped with banknotes from one of the ATMs.
In a well planned raid, the suspects burned several tyres and laid rows of nails on the roads leading to the location of the ATMs, to prevent pursuit by security officials and low down the response to the attack.
Two of the ATMs were located in Khoke Pho district and one in Sai Buri district, Pattani. Police said the bombs were triggered by time-delay detonators.
