Motorist escapes with minor injuries after train ploughs into car in Chumphon

A 36 year old amulet trader has had a lucky escape and is recovering in hospital after the car he was driving was hit by a train in the southern province of Chumphon. Kamol Srikhong, from Trang, escaped with only minor injuries following the collision, which occurred at an unguarded level crossing at around 10.30pm last night.

The Bangkok Post reports that Kamol suffered a broken collarbone and some bruising. Police and rescuers found his car, a black Nissan sedan with Krabi plates, lying on the tracks, having sustained extensive damage. The train was travelling from Bangkok to Trang. Police have launched an investigation into the cause of the collision.
