Road closures for the Phukethon Marathon on Sunday
The upcoming Phukethon 2017, with the Marathon being run on December 10, will force some roads to be closed down for the duration of the running event. Drivers are invited to plan ahead to avoid the runners on this date. More than 10,000 runners are coming to Phuket this weekend for the Phukethon event.
The marathon is scheduled to start at 3.30am.
1. Saphan Hin intersection heading towards Saphan Hin park will be closed from 1am – 11am
2. Wiset Road towards Chalong Circle until the beginning of Soi Suksan 1 from 1am – 8am
3. Thalang Road intersection toward Thepkasattri Road (turning right to Thalang Road) from 1am – 10am
4. Thepkasattri Road (turning left to Thalang Road) from 1am – 10am
5. Thalang Road from 1am – 10am
6. Thalang Road intersection towards Thepkasattri Road (turning left onto Phuket Road) from 1am – 10am
The running route of 42.2 kilometres starts and finishes at Saphan Hin park. Starting from the Cape of Saphan Hin through the main road of the park towards the Gymnasium 1, turning right towards Bang Yai Canal, Phra Maha Chanok bridge, then left and straight to Thep Srisin Bridge.
Runners will turn left at the Daorung School intersection to Chao Fah East and then straight to Chalong Circle, Rawai Beach and Prom Thep Cape which is the turning point of the race, using the same route to come back until Daorung School intersection then through Tha Krang intersection, Suan Luang park, Bangkok intersection then turn right to Bangkok Road and turn left to the Clock Tower Circle and Yaowarat Road.
Once in Phuket Old Town, they will race through all the one way streets such as Phang Nga Road to finish on Phuket Road and back to Saphan Hin.
